Overview:
For many years, software testing has been a critical component of any software project. Some organization even decided to award members of their test teams the title “Test Engineer”. There was even at some point of time a certification of software test engineers. At the same time, test teams have not even tried to utilize any precise technique by which they can design their tests. Testers have not taken advantage of the many software engineering techniques that have existed in the literature for many years. Based on 30 years of experience in software development and testing and based on his the knowledge he had acquired pursuing his degree in Engineering, Dr. Hanna will show how testing can truly be practiced as an engineering discipline. In this presentation, Dr. Hanna will show how test teams can use existing techniques and methods to precisely calculate and design their tests even before development teams have started their design work. Furthermore, Dr. Hanna will show how these techniques can be used to unify the interpretation of requirements by developers and testers at the same time and how they can be used to develop systems that meet customer expectations.

Dr. Hanna is a recognized educator, speaker and consultant in several areas of software engineering. His distinguished seminars on various topics have been highly rated by software professionals. Dr. Hanna's experience with software goes back to the mid 1970's when he worked as a developer at the NCR center in Cairo , Egypt . Over the last thirty years, Dr. Hanna has worked in all aspects of software projects and processes in all capacities.

Dr. Hanna developed new approaches and methods in software engineering including the Software Quality Engineering Methodology (SQEngineer), the Unified Data Model (UDM), and the Data-Driven Object Model (DOM).
Dr. Hanna holds a Ph.D. and a Masters degree in Computer and Information Sciences form the University of Minnesota , a Masters in Operations Research from Cairo University , and B. Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from Suez Canal University , Egypt.
